a week agoLEGENDARY ‘LAHMADJUN’ IN BEIRUT 🇱🇧 In Beirut, we visited the iconic Ichkhanian Bakery - a historic bakery known for some of the city’s best Armenian lahmadjun - and it lives up to its reputation. The place is recommended by Tasteatlas and a must for anyone who loves authentic Middle Eastern street food with deep roots and lots of flavor. We tried two different lahmadjun (lahmacun) – Armenian Lahmadjun – Pomegranate Lahmadjun Both were really successful, but the pomegranate version in particular stood out significantly and became our clear favorite. The flavor was intense, slightly sour and incredibly well-balanced. The pomegranate adds a freshness and depth that elevates the dish to a whole other level and makes it both complex and extremely tasty. The dough is thin, slightly crispy at the edges and perfectly baked, while the meat filling is seasoned with great precision - juicy, aromatic and without being heavy. You can tell that this is a place with decades of experience and respect for the craft. The atmosphere is simple and authentic. The service is efficient and welcoming, and everything is served quickly and piping hot. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially when you consider the quality and history behind the place. We paid about 110 DKK for 9 Lahmacun and 3 bottles of water. Ichkhanian Bakery delivers lahmacun of the absolute highest class. The pomegranate lahmadjun in particular is something very special and among the best we have tasted in Beirut. Taste, tradition and quality come together in a higher unity – a unique place not to be missed.

2 weeks agoThe meat pies were light and the dough was excellent, but it was a bit sour. I think it would have been better if I had ordered date syrup. The cheese borek had an average filling, but the dough was nice and crispy. I tried it only once.
